FAMOUS DEL MAR

Del Mar is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 4,389 at the 2000 census. The San Diego County Fair is hosted on the Del Mar Fairgrounds every summer. Del Mar is Spanish for "of the sea" or "by the sea", because it is located near the Pacific Ocean. Colonel Jacob Taylor purchased 338 acres from Enoch Talbert in 1885, with visions of building a seaside resort for the rich and famous.

People around the world associate Del Mar with the world-famous race track and with names like Bing Crosby and Jimmy Durante. For those own Del Mar real estate this quaint seaside town offers so much more.

Purchasing Del Mar real estate either as a residence or as an investment may be one of the most important investment decisions you will ever make. Some neighborhoods are more in demand than others, and therefore more costly. But in general, expect to pay at least $1.5 million for "entry-level" area housing - meaning you'll get a house you can live in, but that, considering many homes and condominiums were built in the 1970s and earlier, you'll want to almost completely re-do. Beach front or near beach homes may range from $2 million to over $48 million dollars.

Robert Sayler has specialized in Del Mar real estate since 1977.
